To model recurrent interaction events in\ncontinuous time, an extension of the stochastic block model is\nproposed where every individual belongs to a latent group and\ninteractions between two individuals follow a conditional\ninhomogeneous Poisson process with intensity driven by the\nindividuals’ latent groups. The model is shown to be\nidentifiable and its estimation is based on a semiparametric\nvariational expectation-maximization algorithm. Two versions of\nthe method are developed, using either a nonparametric\nhistogram approach (with an adaptive choice of the partition\nsize) or kernel intensity estimators.
